1: Reinstalling cartridges

Reinstalling cartridges allows the printer to function properly. But users must ensure that there’s enough ink for printing jobs

First, while the printer is powered on the USB cable must be disconnected from the computer.

Then, the ink cartridges must be removed.

Next, the power cord must be unplugged from the socket and after a period of about a minute, the cord must be plugged in again.

Users must then wait for` the ‘Insert Cartridges’ message to appear. When it does the cartridges must be reinstalled and all the printer doors must be closed.

In case a recalibration message appears at this point users must let the printer complete this process.

When this is done, the USB cable must be reconnected, and users must try printing again.

2: Trying a power drain

A power drain can be done by unplugging the power cable and pressing down the power button for an about a minute and then plugging in the power cable back in again.

3: Master reset

If this doesn’t work, a master reset must be tried.

The printer must first be unplugged. Then the ‘Help’ and ‘Ok’ buttons must be pressed together, and the printer must be plugged in again.

NOTE: These steps use up a lot of ink and users might have to replace a few cartridges.

Problem with the ink system is a hardware-related issue and is an indication that the ink delivery system didn’t initialize. If the above steps didn’t solve the problem, users must take these steps:

The ink cartridges must be removed and the access door closed. The power cable must be disconnected while the printer is still on.

Next the ‘OK’ and ‘Cancel’ buttons must be held down, and while doing so the power cable must be reinserted. The buttons must be held down until the ‘NVM Reset’ message appears, or the printer switches off.

Then the buttons must be released, and the power button must be pressed.

If the problem isn’t solved, the printer must be serviced.

4: Updating HP printer drivers

Updating the printer drivers will let the printer and computer communicate and work without any errors. The drivers can be updated by using the CD that was provided with the printer or downloads the current driver from HP’s website.

5: Cleaning the Registry

The Registry database of the computer is one of the major causes of HP printer errors. This database contains important settings and information on the computer and helps Windows read files settings and options.

But the registry often becomes corrupted or unreadable, which causes many of the printer errors.

To solve this issue a good registry cleaner must be used by an expert, as any incorrect modification of the registry might permanently damage the operating system. Users must also back up their data before proceeding with the registry cleaning process.
