You have created an App and you were trying to test the App on Android. And the App was so slow that you decided to install Intel Hardware Accelerated Execution Manager (HAXM). You have almost finished installing HAXM and the message pops up that your computer does not support Intel Virtualization technology.
How can that be? You visited the CPU technologies document of your computer and it says ‘Supporting Advanced Intel Processing Technologies’ and the first mentioned technology is ‘Intel(R) Virtualization Technology’.
Actually your computer supports Virtualization. You need to make few changes in your computer so as to enable Virtualization.
There are two methods to disable Hyper-V.
• Edit Boot Configuration
You need to edit the boot configuration if you are familiar with coding.
• Go to Control Panel
For those who are not comfortable with coding you can go the Control panel and follow a few easy steps. Go to the Control Panel →Select Program and Feature. Then Click on Turn Window Features on and off. Now a new Window opens. On the Window Uncheck the Hyper-V icon. Restart the computer. Now you can install HAXM interruptedly.
What if the Computer does not support Virtualization?
You need to check the documentation to know if your computer support in fact supports Virtualization or not. There are various websites which helps you in verifying if you computer supports Virtualization. If your computer does not support then you need to enable Virtualization in the BIOS.
How to install Virtualization?
In most cases the Intel –x has been disabled in the BIOS. So we must enable the BIOS in the setup. In order to access the BIOS setup utility continue pressing the F2 key, Delete Key or Esc key depending on which BIOS is being used. The BIOS setup Utility can be identified by the abbreviations that are used which includes ‘VT-d,’ ‘Virtualization Technology’ or ‘VT’. There will be a number of features of Virtualization. You have to ensure that you click and enable all the icons of Virtualization attribute.
How to know if my computer supports Virtualization?
There are a number of features of the Virtualization technology. And the features are incorporated by Intel in your CPU. Different models of CPU will have different features of Virtualization. And in some models there will not be Virtualization Technology. If you search the Intel website about your computer model you can find out if your model has Virtualization Technology. On the other hand if you have a customized computer then you must find out the model of the CPU. The model number of the CPU will verify if you computer has Virtualization Technology.
